The Elk Springs Ranch combines mild winter grazing in the Paulden/Chino Valley area with summer grazing in the plentiful mountain grass meadows north of Parks, Arizona. A combination of USFS grazing permits on the Prescott and Kaibab National Forests, authorize the grazing of 262 CYL on the Elk Springs Ranch. The USFS Forest grazing permits exist on two separate National Forests. The Spitz Hill, Elk Springs and Dog Knobs Allotments are the summer pastures in the Kaibab National Forest. The Limestone Allotment is the winter pasture located approximately 50 miles south of the summer pastures in the Prescott National Forest. Access between the Summer and Winter Allotments is by Highway 89 and I-40. Extensive range improvements have begun on the Limestone Allotment in an effort to increase the grazing capacity of the winter pasture. Sale includes 211 mother cows and 11 bulls currently located on the ranch.

Location: Winter pasture is located just north of Paulden, Arizona and close to all facilities and schools in Chino Valley. Summer pasture is located north of I-40 near Parks, Arizona. Flagstaff is located approximately 15 miles west of the main shipping corrals.

Vegetation: Winter Pasture: Juniper Forest with open grasslands located at 5,000+ feet in elevation on Black Mesa with broken canyons providing a wide variety of feed. Typical grama grasses, seasonal grasses, shrubs, browse, mountain mahogany, junipers, pinyon pines make this excellent winter pasture. A few of the grasses and browse species include: Grama grass, Foxtail, Squirrel Tail, Blue Stem, Western Wheat, Indian Wheat, Filaree, Bear Grass, Gaietta, Tobossa, Vine Mesquite, Foxtail Barley. Summer Pasture: Located at 7,000 feet in elevation, Ponderosa Pine habitat with large parks/meadows with abundant grass enhance gaining weights
prior to shipping.

Precipitation: Average annual precipitation is 18 inches per year in winter pasture. Occasional snows occur during the winter. Summer pastures receive on average 22 inches of rainfall and 74.6 inches of snowfall per year.

Improvements: Perimeter fencing, interior pasture fences, traps, corrals, storage tanks, windmills, water lines, wells with submersible electric pumps, drinkers and dirt tanks. Existing NRCS funding for additional trick tanks, water line, and a brush management
contract is transferable.

Water: The ranch is well watered by a system of windmills, dirt tanks, springs, storage tanks. A high production well is located on a 10 acre deeded parcel feeds a set of working corrals and provides water to interior pasture of USFS grazing allotment.

Wildlife: Mule deer, Whitetail deer, bear, turkey, mountain lion, elk, coyote, quail and javelina.

Personal Property: 200 Cows and 11 bulls are included in the sale. Cattle are cross bred angus.
